Maple Candied Bacon Roses
(yields 12 bacon roses) Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 35 minutes Total Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
12 slices thick-cut bacon
2 tbsp brown sugar
½ tsp black pepper (optional, for a little spice)
Tools & Supplies
Toothpicks (to hold the bacon rolls in place)
Mini cupcake pan (to help bacon roses hold their shape while baking)
Fake rose stems (optional, for presentation)
Directions
Step 1: Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top (to catch drippings).
Step 2: Roll the Bacon
Take each slice of bacon and tightly roll it into a spiral, making sure it resembles a rosebud.
Secure the bottom of each bacon rose with a toothpick to hold the shape.
Step 3: Arrange for Baking
Place the bacon roses upright in a mini cupcake pan—this helps them keep their shape while baking.
Step 4: Glaze & Season
In a small bowl, mix maple syrup, brown sugar, and black pepper.
Brush a generous layer of the maple glaze over each bacon rose.
Step 5: Bake to Perfection
Bake for 30-40 minutes, brushing with more maple glaze halfway through.
The bacon roses are done when they are crispy, caramelized, and beautifully golden.
Step 6: Cool & Serve
Let them cool slightly before removing the toothpicks.
For a fun presentation, insert them onto fake rose stems to create an edible bouquet!
